Visiting the Cosumnes River Preserve
Visitor Center 
The Visitor Center is the focal point for the majority of public access and education at the Preserve. It features a 200 square foot deck with permanent interpretive exhibits displayed both inside and outside the building. The Visitor Center deck and outdoor exhibits are open to the public even when the indoor exhibit room is closed.
The Visitor Center is open and staffed by volunteers on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. July and August Visitor Center hours are 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. The Visitor Center features interpretive displays and interactive educational exhibits, as well as picnic tables and rest rooms.
The Cosumnes River Preserve Visitor Center officially opened to the public in March, 1994. Unfortunately, in December 1995, the Visitor Center burned to the ground in an arson fire. Visitor Center re-construction and installation of exhibits took place over the ensuing months, and in September 1997, the Visitor Center reopened.
